Andersonville National Civil War Naval
Museum & the National POW/MIA Memorial
Cemetery (Cont.)
Lunch was held
at Yoders. Southern comfort food & homemade
desserts is the draw at this quaint,
cafeteria-style restaurant.
The National
POW/MIA Memorial Cemetery was founded to
offer a permanent place of honor for those
who died in military service to the U.S. The
initial interments, trench burials, began in
February 1864 of the prisoners who died in
the nearby military prison. In fourteen
months, almost 13,000 soldiers were buried
here.
